It's been a long time...

Wow, I had no idea that I haven't posted anything in almost 2 years!  But time flies when you're having fun and keeping up with an almost 3 year old!  Our family is doing well and Leah is growing too fast! I can't believe in just a month she will be 3!  Quick update- Jerrod's still at NFS and I quit my job in May to stay home with Leah!  Best decision ever!!!  So the reason for this post is we're expecting again!!!  I figured if I could keep a blog/journal with Leah that this baby deserved one as well.  So here goes from the beginning:

Jerrod and I decided last August we would start trying to have another baby.  Failed attempts later, we started fertility meds again just like we did with Leah.  That was in January.  So after 5 months of no luck, I decided to take a month off and just see what happened.  Now keep in mind that one reason for the fertility meds was because my Progesterone was extremely low.  We had to do something to get it up so I could actually carry a child. And yes I know, once you stop worrying about it and thinking about it, it will happen, blah blah blah.  *Note, for a woman who has trouble conceiving, do not, I repeat, do not say this to her!  It does not go over well.  We had also made arrangements to see a fertility specialist in Knoxville on July 2 to see what else we needed to do.  So here we were at the beach with my parents the last week of June.  I made it thru the week without starting so I thought I'd run to the store and buy a pregnancy test.  I had been disappointed so much already what's one more time, right?  Wrong!  Saturday morning, June 30th, I got up to start getting ready to go home from the beach and took a test.  That was interesting, it turned positive almost immediately.  Jerrod was laying in the bed with Leah and I asked him to come to the bathroom.  I think we were both in such shock we didn't know what to do!  We then told Leah she was going to be a big sissy.  So how to tell Mom & Daddy?  I knew I couldn't ride all the way back home (6 hours) and not tell them!  So I made sure the cap was on the test & sanitary and I handed it to Leah.  I told her, "Go in Gramma's room & say 'I'm gonna be a big sissy'."  As I walked behind her to Mom & Daddy's room I was about to explode.  She did just what I asked her to do.  Mom's response, "Huh??? What?? What did you say Leah?".  To which she got the test out of her hand that said pregnant & started screaming & hugging me!  I'm not really sure what Daddy said to Jerrod cause Mom was screaming in my ear.  It was a wonderful way to end our fantastic week at the beach!

So after our 6 hour ride home, we stopped at Jerrod's parents house to pick up Callie.  His mom & dad had bought a new Pilot while we were gone so Jerrod kept saying, "I wish you'd kept the old one, we're gonna need a bigger car."  Neither one of them caught on to what he was saying!  Finally he said it again & his mom looked at me and said, "are you pregnant???"  Excitement once again!

So Monday, July 2 rolled around & I called my doctor's office to find out if I needed to cancel the appointment for later that day in Knoxville with the specialist.  I cancelled the appointment & went to my doctor that afternoon for lab work confirmation.  The following week Dr Carter was back in the office, so they made me an appointment with her given all that we had been through.  We went to the doctor on Thursday July 12.  That day was one of the worst of my life.  After we had our ultrasound to determine how far along I was (5 weeks at the time) we saw Dr C.  As we sat with her I was baffled at what she was telling me.  She was afraid I was suffering from a "molar pregnancy".  The brief definition of a molar pregnancy is: an abnormal form of pregnancy wherein a non-viable fertilized egg implants in the uterus and converts a normal pregnancy into an abnormal one (which will fail to come to term). Then the non-viable fertilized egg can also turn into a cancerous mass.  Basically, I could die if this wasn't taken care of.  Dr C wanted to watch me very closely every week to see if the "mass" grew or not.  We had a weekly appointment complete with labs, ultrasound & office visit for 5 more weeks.  It was heart wrenching not knowing if I was going to be able to carry this child to term & if my life was in danger.  By week 10 we went to see a Maternal Fetal Specialist at UT in Knoxville.  Dr Towers was great!  He gave us a good report and felt like the pregnancy was normal and the "mass" that was there was possibly a vascular area that would resolve itself.  What a relief!  We came home with a better outlook for this baby!  We saw Dr C the following week and things were really looking better so she extended my office visit out for a month!  I was so excited and overjoyed!  And then.... week 13 I started having some spotting.  Luckily Dr C was on call that night & I got to talk to her on the phone.  She reassured me that she felt like everything was fine but if I wanted to go to the office to see Dr Hodshon (who had also reviewed my "molar" case with her in the beginning) the next day I could.   So I did and he felt like everything was okay.  Then I saw Dr C the next week (14 weeks) & everything still looked great!  We made our appointment for our anatomy ultrasound and couldn't wait!

October 15 was the day of our anatomy ultrasound.  Jerrod & I were both so anxious to find out if this little fighter was a boy or a girl!  Jerrod wanted a boy so badly and I honestly wanted one of both.  So here we go, it's a BOY!!!! We are so excited and overjoyed to meet this little guy!  However this pregnancy started off with a bang and it's gonna end with one.  We ended up having to see Dr Hodshon before we left because there was yet another problem.  I have a complete placenta previa with this baby.  Which basically means the placenta is blocking my cervix & you can't deliver the placenta first so I have to have a C-Section.  Dr H also wants me to be scheduled to have this baby at 37 weeks due to complications that could arise after that.

I'm going to try to update more often like I did with Leah but I just wanted to give a glimpse into what we've been going thru!
